Offered by THE REAL Costa Rica

At THE REAL Costa Rica we offer any type of program to suit your interests and needs. We offer week-long programs with daily Spanish lessons, and/or community volunteer work.

Below you will find some of our most commonly requested programs for individuals, groups and families, as well as a sample custom itinerary for a family. Please note that we can also customize just about any program to fit your needs and wishes, as long as you are interested in experiencing the real way of life in Costa Rica!

1 week Spanish lessons (4 hrs per day) & home stay program:
$490 per adult (from 12 years old)
$390 per child (from 6 to 12 years old)
$300 per child (under 6 years old)
Programs are from Monday to Friday, all year round.

2 weeks Spanish lessons & home stay program:
$970 per adult (from 12 years old)
$760 per child (from 6 to 12 years old)
$550 per child (under 6 years old)
Programs are from Monday to Friday, all year round

Other Activities Available:

A) Home hosted meals

B) Folkloric Dance Presentation &Reforestation project & Home hosted Lunch

C) 2 hours Spanish lessons in the forest and Home hosted lunch or Dinner

D) Nocturnal hike and Home hosted dinner
Duration of this activity: 2 1/2 hours

E) Cultural Activity
Helping to prepare (and to eat!) a typical dish
This activity is offered in a local family home.

F) Community Happiness Day
This activity consists of sharing with the San Rafael community members.
The lenght is around 3 1/2 hours.
Party! Coffee break and time to share with the community members (games, questions, milking a cow, etc)
Soccer game or Spanish lessons.
Reforestation project
Lunch or Dinner
At the end of the activity, people share addresses in order to become new pen pals.


G) Community Volunteer Work:
This activity consist of painting or repairing a community area (could be a classroom, a church, the EBAIS, a house of a needy family, etc.)
This activity can take from 1 to 4 hours.
Coffee break is included.
